gay pride?
what makes you so proud of being gay?
you dont see people running around screaming straight pride.
i think gay people just want attention, thats it
when im proud, im not proud because im a minority as someone said
if i went to africa and said white pride, i would probably be consider racist.
are you really proud of being messed up in the head?

1. Don't generalize, generalizations are dangerous. The principle behind gay pride is that, as a minority group, there are people who are willing to face any of the reprecussions and bigotry because of being associated with that group. There is no poor stigma atached to heterosexuality, therefore there is no reason for hetereosexuals to throw a parade in celebration of the sexual orientation.
2. I'm not gay nor proud of it. I also agree with you.
However, to be fully happy, I think they need the attention, not just want it.
They need more people to understand them and support them. Why?
Well, I know for a fact it's tiring to not be believed in, to be thought that a core part of what makes you who you are (that you were born with or something similar) is simply a choice, and to have your rights denied.
Maybe this wasn't the kind of attention you meant, but I honestly think that more attention should be payed to such issues.
3. First of all, we do not "scream" that we are gay, and secondly, you parade your sexuality around just like we do. For instance, you have a wife or girlfriend. You hold her hand in public. You have children and take them to public places. Is that not pride?
4. Well... straight people haven't been oppressed. Straight people haven't had to hide who they are on fear of being attacked in some safe or form. These are the same reasons why so many african americans or jews are so proud. Because now they CAN be.
And, y'know, if you're so proud of being straight, you should march in the street about it. No one is stopping you. =3
5. And what exactly are you trying to get out of asking this question.....attention?
I am proud of WHO I am, which happens to include being a lesbian, not JUST the fact that I am a lesbian. I have "pride" in being gay, because I want people like you to know that I, like it or not, am not going to change or go away.....and I am comfortable in my skin. Maybe you should learn to take a little more pride in who you are : )
6. why do black people have pride?.. you don't see a bunch of white people running around screaming they are white.
it's because thousands of people are killed, abused verbally/physically a day for being who they are.
this happens in several countries. in america and certain other places where you might see "gay pride" we are liberating those who die or are abused for who they are, by doing something they could have never dreamt of doing *being proud of who we are and who we love*.
and in other cases it's a struggle liberation. you don't see straight people battling with the same difficulties mentally as gay people do. Most gay's that show pride do it because they've won the battle with the most difficult of people-themselves, and can now embrace it as a part of who they are.
staight people can embrace that they are straight... but it's not much of a battle.. so i guess it's not much to be proud about to where you go out and buy staight pride accessories
7. I assume your straight? so are you not proud of it.
but the gblt community have been supressed far to long and its our way of saying we are what we are and we are proud of it.
the straight community thinks we should be ashamed,WEL WE ARE NOT....................WE ARE PROUD
8. No. thats not it.
gay people are just like normal people
only their love life is a little different
dont singal people out cuz they are gay
and if ur gay u need to show the world that u dont care wht people think and that u are who u are and no one can change tht.
they should feel good about them selfs when they " come out of their closet" it means telling someone tht u are gay les or bi
but they are normal people and they just think that the world should no tht everyday, normal people can be gay and nothing would be wrong w/ it. cuz nothing is wrong w/ it. its a fact of life.
people will be gay
and people will be bi
and people will be les
and they are still human
and they should be treated as if
they werent like that
cuz at one point
u just mite be like tht too
and they will know how u feel

9. When straight people start getting discriminated against, murdered, or beaten for being straight then yea, they can go ahead and start professing pride for their sexuality. Society constantly drills it into people's brains than homosexuality is wrong, homosexuals are going to hell, homosexuals have a mental disorder, blah, blah, blah. Gay pride is all about standing up and saying, "I'm proud of who I am. There's nothing wrong with me."
10. I think being proud of your sexual orientation is pretty lame. I have nothing against gays and understand they've been "oppressed", but in general being proud is usually in bad taste. Gay Pride is in bad taste. Instead of being proud, educating others and teaching compassion should be the goal.
When I was in high school we actually had a Gay Pride day and oh what a horrible failure that was. There was no education or understanding just gay people being proud that they were having underage sex with other homosexuals. In light of this I wore a "straight pride" shirt and did absolutely nothing else. I didn't harass, make fun of, nor do anything negative to any homosexuals and never will. I was suspended for intolerance, for wearing a shirt that showed my own pride in my sexual orientation. Confusing eh?
We had a Gay Straight Alliance, which I was apart of, and it was amazingly more successful.
11. not all homosexuals are proud, only the gay ones
