gay marriage? why is gay marriage being banned from some states? thats wrong to ban it in some of the states. this is a free country . they should have no right to ban it. what do you think of gay marriage? do you think its wrong? if you do think its wrong please explain. i do not think gay marriage is wrong. people can love whoever they want. it should not matter with who the person they love is. god loves everyone. it may not be "natural" or whatever. but, its not wrong.
Gay marriage? Despite your personal beliefs, how do you guys interpret why gays can't marry? If our government was sticking to the constitutional law of "separation of church and state", would this even be an issue? Call it whatever you want...civil unions, domestic partnership, marriage, etc--I'm not here to debate how the legal binding should be dubbed. But why are homosexuals being classified as second rate citizens here? Where's the Martin Luther King Jr of the Gay Rights Movement? Gay people have heartbeats too. Okay, also. For religious based folk, please keep in mind that this isn't a religious question---separation of church and state is a governmental policy that you've chosen to accept being an American, and I would prefer all religious beliefs kept out of this. Whether you follow the Torah, taoism, various interpretations of christianity, hinduism, or the Church of Elvis Presley--America is a melting pot of ideologies. That's um, part of makes this country so fantastic?
Gay Marriage? I want to hear what you think about it... To the Jesus people who think gay marriage is evil i want you to think about this before you answer... according to the bible eating shrimp is an abomination and so is wearing two different materials in your clothing at the same time... And to top if off not even 50 years ago people were using the bible to condemn interracial marriage... do you all still think its wrong?
GAY MARRIAGE???????????????? Do you think that MOST gays are truly interested in gay marriage all of a sudden or is this just the latest issue to rally around and create comraderie while getting attention? There have always been gays... why are they suddenly so interested in the heterosexual tradition of marriage?
GAY Marriage? Should heterosexuals really be telling homosexuals about marriage? In Denmark, homosexuals have been legally able to get hitched since 1989. But despite stereotypes of gay relationships as short-lived, the divorce rate among Danish homosexuals is only 17 percent, compared to 46 percent for heterosexuals. What are your views on this? No bashing. Uncle John: The Court issued an innovative ruling: since the provincial courts of appeal had ruled that the heterosexual definition of marriage was unconstitutional (a position strengthened by the Attorney General's refusal to appeal those rulings), it was unconstitutional across Canada, and to continue to restrict marriages in Yukon to opposite-sex couples would result in an unacceptable state of a provision's being in force in one jurisdiction and not another. Definitions change my friend. Gay used to mean happy.
GAY marriage? maybe some of u think I'm crazy or pointless but i don't get the "gay marriage" issue stuff. if u love a guy and he loves u back why do u want it to be official u could love each other, don't get me wrong or anything I'm (gay) but i don't believe in the marriage I do believe in love but marrying a guy these things r for the straight people. I'm not a religious man but marriage is a sacred thing and i know being gay is a sin cause all religions disapprove it but i keep on going i'm not proud of what i'm doing and i do know it's wrong , but continue on marrying a guy i think i reached TOP of all sins. and please stop with i fell sorry for u thanks
Gay MARRIAGE? I ASKED THIS GUY BEFORE ON WHY IT WAS SO HARD TO HAVE IT LEGILIZED 1 GUY SAID I CANT MARRY A MAN BUT I CAN MARRY A WOMAN LIKE YOU SO HE SAID WE HAD EQUAL RIGHTS BUT IF THE TABLES WERE TURNED AND GAY MARRIAGE WAS LEAGLE AND STRAIT MARRIAGE WAS BANNEND WOULD HETRO'S BE OK WITH THAT WOULD THEY STILL SEE EQUAL RIGHTS
GaY MarriAgE??? what is your opinion on gay marriage....for or against???why or why not???...salamat
What kind of people compare gay marriage to slavery? Is it just me, or is this comparison beyond offensive and degrading? What are gay marriage rights supporters going to say next, that denying gay marriage is comparable to genocide? Do gay marriage rights supporters think that they are going to make people support gay marriage and gay adoption by having a victim mentality, having sob stories and being self-entitled bullies who force their beliefs onto others? It seems like no low is too low for them. I can't believe people are comparing gay marriage to slavery, it's just shocking and sickening.
How many gay marriage ceremonies have been performed in Mass in Catholic Churches? It seems like the only thing anyone can say in opposition to gay marraige is that it would force churches to perform those ceremonies. OK, we have a great test to see if that's actually an issue. 1. Mass legalized gay marriage. 2. Catholic church is opposed to gay mariage 3. How many gay marraiges have been forced on the Catholic Church in Mass? That's Massachusetts....not the act of Mass http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ak4XBWPKbNNV26EcHYRSlLnsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090215190121AA91TPN Scroll down a little and you see this exact claim. This is about the 10th time I've seen it on here... It can't possibly happen RLP as everyone else on here knows. Churches can marry whoever they want and sure as heck can have denominational limits on who they marry. The answer is ZERO of course.
How does allowing gay marriage have anything to do with education? Why do so many people state that their child will be taught about gay marriage in school if gay marriages were legal? I don't recall hearing this argument nearly as frequently when civil unions became legal.
How does the anti-gay marriage crowd feel about straight couples marrying in civil ceremonies? I've heard some of the anti-gay marriage folks here argue that gays should have civil unions, but they shouldn't be allowed to marry, because of the religious ramifications of marriage. Does marriage always have a religious undertone, though? After all, there are plenty of straight couples who get married in civil ceremonies.
How does gay marriage affect tradition or religion? I am just wondering once again on the opinion of people for this issue/debate. I have to debate on it in class tomorrow. In my case I am against gay marriage for the debate, but I am for Civil Unions. I don't think the ppl that are gay should get the title, because they already have C.U.'s. Also, this can affect the tradition of people that don't want it, ect... How would you solve this issue, according to my case? -if you can please use statistics and information you know to be against the issue/debate.
Opponents of gay marriage: Should we outlaw divorce since it is currently the biggest threat to marriage? If the concern over gay marriage is the idea that it will threaten marriage or the family, it would make sense to outlaw the biggest threat there is to families and marriage: divorce. If we outlaw divorce, it should show people how sacred marriage is don’t you think?
Is gay marriage the same as legal incest. Say a father and willing daughter or son being able to marry? I recently had someone state to me that if you believe in equality for all, speaking of gay marriage, then you should agree with incest between consenting adults or that makes you a bigot. Any thoughts on this issue.
Why was a gay judge allowed to ask a gay marriage question to Miss California during the Miss USA pageant? They only asked her that because she is from California and was expected to say 'YES ,i totally support gay marriage' Why would they allow a gay judge to ask that question? Of course he is going to score her a zero if she doesn't have the same opinion on gay marriage as he does. She should have won because she's beautiful and stuck to her beliefs and gave an honest answer instead of telling that judgmental queen perez hilton what he wanted to hear.
Why do some believe that legalizing gay marriage would lead to marriage to animals and relatives? After all, gay marriage would take place between two consenting adults, and a dog, cat, or horse would never be able to give its consent. Also, there are laws on the books against marrying relatives, thanks to concerns about inbreeding. Unlike incest, at least gay marriage wouldn't lead to birth defects!
How does gay marriage negatively affect you? 1. Does it turn your kids gay? 2. Does it ruin your straight marriage? 3. Does it ruin your sex life? 4. Does it cause gas prices to go up? What are the negative personal effects gay marriage has or can have on you that cause you to oppose it?
Are gay marriage rights really about equal rights or just getting revenge on the religious? I have one gay friend who says he wants gay marriage because he wants equal rights. I suggested why not lobby congress to make "civil unions" EQUAL 100% in rights to marriage? It would be easier to get the average american to support and he would get his equal rights. He said this was unacceptable and would only settle for "Marriage" rights. It sounds to me he is more interested in taking something away from people of religion rather than actually obtaining equal rights. Is this the opinion of most gays or is he in the minority? Your thoughts?
GAY MArRIAGe....................? i need some help on gay marrige...we're having a debate about it in school and i need some information and opinions on gay marrige are you for it or against it?
If gay marriage is legal in a state does it mean that the couple qualifies for the others' health insurance? Is the marriage still recognized if the couple moves to a state that does not recognize gay marriage?
If gay marriage were legalized in America, would there need to be an amendment? I often hear proponents of gay marriage calling for a Constitutional amendment, but aren't amendments only passed to AMEND the Constitution? The Constitution doesn't define marriage, does it? If not, shouldn't a federal law be enough?
How many countries recognize gay marriage and why do gays try to paint America as being alone against it? What changed in society for us to even consider gay marriage as something anywhere close to "normal"? How much further will our society decay over the next 50 years? Any predictions? Where iin the constitution does it protect mens right to marry men?
Will I live to see gay marriage legalized in my life time? I live in the USA (so called Land of the Free) and gay marriage is only legal in a few states. Will I live to see all 50 states adopt gay marriage? Me and my parents are planning on starting a petition to get gay marriage legalized in Kansas; will it happen?
How would a gay marriage in California work? My gf's sister and her partner just got engaged recently, and they're planning a wedding next year. We live in CA, and as you know, Prop 8 has passed and gay marriage is not legal. Yet, they're still planning on getting married HERE on the sandy beaches of San Diego, so how would this work? Is it going to be legit with paperwork and such, I don't understand how this will play out... I'm real excited for them, I wish it were easier.
Can you give me some good reasons why gay marriage should be legal? I have nothing against gay people, nor do i know why other people wouldn't let them get married. I am writing an english paper on a law i would like to see enforced in my area and i chose gay marriage. What are some logical, statistical, and emotional reasons why gay marriage should be allowed? Thanks!
If gay marriage was legalized would gays and lesbians be more likely to vote Republican? It has long been understood that gays and lesbians vote Democrat because they are more likely to get their right to marry approved. Are the gays and lesbians conservative otherwise? If gay marriage is legalized would it mean we'd see votes swing back in favor to Republicans?
What is your stance on gay marriage and what are your reasons? The rules are you cannot comprise your reason with any religious logic. When I say marriage I am speaking of the cut and dry laws that would surround the subject. This means I also don't want answers that just say "Because its gross!". In addition I've also found many trying to give me the cut and dry no by stating that it would create tax loopholes. Reality: A man and a woman could create the same loopholes just as easily so none of that thank you very much. Procede in your answering. I am trying to look at this from a fair unbiased prospective and so far I can't come up with any reasons why gay marriage shouldn't be legal. If you can make a fair arguement otherwise, I welcome your answer. I'm not saying anyone's religion is wrong ,but it shouldn't play a part in the legalities of the situation. If Athiests are allowed marriage, why not gays? This is the arguement used for why marriage is a sacred bond between man and wife ,but marriage ,whether you like it or not, is a legal oath taken by two individualsa and by law is not influence by religion. This is my reasoning for trying to exclude religious viewpoints. I am being very unbiased. It is unbiased because too many people would like to passionify their answer to make a big deal about it. I'm simply stating to use raw logic without emotion. This means I'm asking you to also be unbiased. Its like saying "Chocolate is better than vanilla". This cannot be proven ,but anyone can have an opinion on the subject. Its just that; I don't want opinions. I want cold hard facts and logic. The difference between gay couples and sex predators is that they are acting willingly on both sides. Yes, there is gay rape and that is a crime ,but two people of consenting age going into that situation is nothing more than sex whether it be gay or straight. I bet many people think that morbidly obese people having sex is "gross" ,but I'm pretty sure there have been no rallies to keep them from marrying. Get it? There are many straight couples that are unable to reproduce. Just a tip, I'm not gay or anything like that. I'm just looking for a logical answer for the LAW side of this situation. Whether a couple marries or not they will probably still be together so lets speak in hypothetical terms. Say we're speaking in terms of calling gays birds and straights bees.(just sticking with the classic format here) I can fully understand not liking something ,but I'm about doing what is right without the "like factor" involved. For example: I don't like pickles ,but I'm not going stop anyone else from eating them.
How is gay marriage going to ruin society? This is not a question for people who believe in the basic human rights of gay people, and I don't want scripture. I just want to understand how exactly people against gay marriage, and more importantly families with two same sex parents believe these things are bad for society. What are some actual problems you see? I need to understand this side. 10 points for the answer that makes the most sense (not the one I agree with, although I will give thumbs up). And if you have some actual proof of your point you will get more credibility.
How would gay marriage be taught in school? A lot of ppl who are against gay marriage have been saying that gay marriage would be taught in school if it were legalized. How would that work, especially considering heterosexual marriage isnt taught in school?
What happens if I go to another state for a gay marriage then come back to California? If I go to CT, Iowa, Mass, etc. to get married and then come back to California where I live, will it recognize my gay marriage? Which states that haven't legalized gay marriage will recognize gay marriages that occured in other states? I wonder if we'll be able to file my state and federal taxes as a married couple? Thanks!
How would a anti-gay marriage person respond to this response? First, I am not against same sex marriages, I am just wondering. People who say they are against gay marriage say that a portion of the purpose of marriage is to pro-create, and since same sex couples can not pro-create they should not be able to get married. However, what about heterosexual couples that can not have children? My wife had her uterus removed at 18 because she had uterine cancer, we are unable to have children. We also have a close couple that do not want to have children, because they work too much. Should these people not be able to get married?
If you have a gay marriage in New Hampshire and move to Texas would your marriage remain legal? Would your marriage still be legal in Texas? Is one's right to a gay marriage to getting married or to staying married?
How come conservative republicans are against gay marriage? How come conservative republicans are against gay marriage? They talk about the sanctity of marriage but they are the first to cheat on their wives. Just wanted to know the rational behind it.
How does allowing or disallowing Gay Marriage affect the average person? Is there something straight people miss if we disallow it? We can't even get straight marriage right, why move on to gay?
How does gay marriage affect a country? Should gay marriage be legal in a country? How does it affect the country? What are the consequences of gay marriage?
What do you think about gay marriage and should it be legal or illegal? Im doing a project for school about gay marriage and I am curious about what you have to say about it. Please give me an answer and a good reason for your answer. Thank You.
Who agrees that Vermont's legalization of gay marriage via the legislature was a huge blow to conservatives? Who agrees that Vermont's legalization of gay marriage via the legislature was a blow to conservatives who scream "activist judges" whenever a state court legalizes gay marriage? Now they can't whine about activist judges in Vermont, since this was done by the people's elected representatives. Of course, the more important question now is: who will the conservatives blame now since they don't have the "activist judges" to pick on?
Why is gay marriage not legal everywhere if there is a separation of church and state? Since opposition of gay marriage comes from religious belief, why is it not allowed in every state? Isn't there supposed to be a separation of church and state? If so, how is banning gay marriage constitutional? Since when does marriage have to do with being natural? Are married couples forced to have kids? No, that point is invalid. So again i ask this question, because saying its not natural is irrelevant.
What are gay marriage advocates opinion on polygamy within a group of consenting adults? How can anyone who supports gay marriage deny the "happiness" of responsible adults, even if they are relatives, who wish to live with and support multiple spouses if they are happy in such an arrangement?
What do you think about gay marriage being illegal? I personally am for gay marriage being illegal, it isn't natural no matter what you say. If men were supposed to be with other men then a man would have a vagina and a penis.
How Is Gay Marriage Different Than Unions? Specifically, what benefits does gay marriage have that unions do not? This is in regards to gay marriage in the United States.
Exactly how many gay couples have to marry before the sanctity of YOUR marriage is destroyed? Is there a specific number? At what number of gay marriages does your marriage become less special? I've heard all about how gay marriage destroys the sanctity of marriage, so I'm just looking for some specifics here.
Has anyone considered the slippery slope argument dealing with gay marriage? If it follows that gay marriage will lead to polygamy, bestiality, and incest marriage, then wouldn't the logical sequence dictate that none of this would have occurred if it weren't for heterosexual marriage? Mean, didn't heterosexual marriage lead to gay marriage? If there were no marriage then no one would be arguing for marriage rights?
When will gays understand that gay marriage will never happen in America? Gays have lost something like 30 out of 31 gay marriage ballot amendments, often by huge margins. This is because Americans simply do not accept gay relationships. When will gays understand this, and stop trying to press for special rights? Why do they think they have any chance of success? They are clearly on the wrong side of public opinion and the wrong side of history. When will they understand this simple fact?
Should gay marriage be something that the public is allowed to vote on? For example, was it right for prop. 8 to be voted on in California. While at first most people would probably think no, because it is an issue of human rights and everyone being equal, a marriages also has many legal implications. It actually financially affects many people if gay marriage is legal. SO what say you?
How is it fair to compare gay marriage to bestiality or pedophilia? How is what two consenting adults who love each other do in their own homes the same as one adult having sex with a child or animal who have no consent whatsoever? And why is it that when you think of gay you only think of sex? Isn't there more to marriage then sex?
What does the constitution say about gay marriage? If we’re supposed to abide by the constitution, then why is there even an argument about gay marriage? Isn’t that a debate for the churches? Whatever happened to separate of church and state?
Is a presidential candidates stance on gay marriage and abortion important to you? I guess i'm asking because i've always said that there are more important things to worry about (as it pertains to pres. candidates) than how they feel about gay marriage and abortion and I just wanna know if anyone agrees or disagrees with me.
What's the best way to classify the political objections against gay marriage? Here where I live everyone gets to marry whoever they want so it's hard to explain the rationals of the opponents to people for who gay marriage is natural and evident, who would see a ban on gay marriage as apartheid. How should I explain to them the reasons the US does not have gay marriage? Any idea? Thanks in advance
How many here oppose gay marriage not because gays are deviant but you oppose the whole sexual revolution? Meaning you oppose the decoupling of marriage, sex, and procreation, and gay marriage is just the final blow?
What do you think about gay marriage and should it be legal or illegal? Im doing a project for school about gay marriage and I am curious about what you have to say about it. Please give me an answer and a good reason for your answer. Thank You.
How does supporting gay marriage make me any less of a conservative? As a CONSERVATIVE I support the sacred institution of marriage, and all that it represents. I support loyalty, commitment, and personal responsibility. So how does it make me any less of a CONSERVATIVE if I support a loving and committed gay or lesbian couple who want to make a lifelong commitment to one another? Or would the other so called "conservatives" prefer an orgy of gays and lesbians throwing parades in their faces?
How could gay marriage possibly affect your own marriage in the eyes of God? Why would gay marriage be a threat to straight Christians? If a bunch of Satanists wanted to have a Christian church service some Sunday, it wouldn't mean a thing to you, and it certainly can't derail God. How is this bit of politics even important to you and your precious afterlife?
Once Gay marriage is Legalized will Republicans be the first to Marry? Following in the footsteps or republican politicians playing footsie in public washrooms and evangelical priests living secret lives. Once the gay marriage ban is lifted will the republicans just step out of the closet. Do they want it banned because they don't want to raise suspicion?
How would gay marriage be taught in school? A lot of ppl who are against gay marriage have been saying that gay marriage would be taught in school if it were legalized. How would that work, especially considering heterosexual marriage isnt taught in school?
What is the Republican platform on gay marriage and how does it fit into tea parties? You guys are against gay marriage but you are throwing tea bagging parties? Will Thomas Payne be there to be tea bagged or to tea bag?
How about really protecting marriage? Along with the gay marriage issue, how about protecting it from divorce? More lives are impacted by divorce than the gay marriage, yet I don't see or hear anyone talking of reforming the no fault divorce laws. I know in the Bible it says homosexuality is an abomination but it also says God hates divorce. Is this hypocritical? I mean aren't we selectively legislating morality? I'd like to see no fault divorce done away with in order to really hold up the institution of marriage.
Why are Repubs trying to make gay marriage a federal issue instead of a state issue? In 2004 & 2006 they tried pushing these federal constitutional amendments to ban gay marriage. Why can't they just leave it to the states? Why can't they follow the 10th amendment and enforce state rights?
What gives people the right to try to ban gay marriage? Is it just because it is a sin, from a religious perspective? If so, isn't that just religious persecution? Marriage isn't a religious institution, after all. Two atheists can go down to the courthouse and get a legal marriage license... unless they're gay. If that's not persecution, then I don't know what is. If we're going to be using the Bible to pass laws, then shouldn't we also ban atheist marriages? That's a sin, too. What do you think the real motive here is? Outright gay hating? Do most of these people think that just being gay should also be illegal?
What percentage Is there for a gay marriage and straight marriage to get divorced? I'm curious what are most likely percentage's of gay marriage lasting or straight marriage?
How exactly does gay marriage effect straight people? Most Americans are atheists and aren't blinded by religion and yet so many allow themselves to be blinded by hate. Explain this to me, how does gay marriage effect straight people negatively in anyway?
